5-minute seafood salad is your next cure for the lunch munchies. With one bowl and very little cleanup, what’s not to love?
Pop quiz: what do you do with imitation crab meat?
This is the same question I asked myself when I saw imitation crab at the store. I mean, what can you use it for? I bought it and decided I would do some recipe testing for lunch that day.
And no, the answer is not to throw it away, so don’t do it! The answer to the question is… make seafood salad!
“Seafood salad??” I hear you asking yourself. “Sounds gross.”
And yes, I can hear you. 😉
Well, what do you think tuna salad is? Same concept, but slightly different delivery.
Now, let’s set some records straight. I’m not saying that seafood salad or even imitation crab should be eaten all the time. Imitation crab has some ingredients I wouldn’t want to eat for dinner every night, like a number of different starches and sugar. But once in a while, I like to get a package for an easy lunch or dinner.
And I make seafood salad. Nothing else as of yet, because I don’t know how much I trust imitation crab in other cooking methods just yet! Something to try, however… I’ll put it in my blog ideas.
The one-bowl wonder!
Yes, seafood salad is not only quick but light on the clean-up! Just because I’m a food blogger, doesn’t mean I like dishes any more than anyone else. The more opportunities I can cut down on dishes, the better.
What kind of “crab meat” should I buy?
Get the flake style. Leg meat style is not cut up enough for what we need, so get the flake style and make your life a lot easier.
What do I put it on?
Um, what do you not put it on? Try it in a sandwich, on butter crackers, saltines, tortilla chips… even cucumber slices! Actually, you could also put them in lettuce cups, not pictured. But feel free to put some in the hollow of some romaine or iceberg lettuce.
So a few ingredients, one bowl and 5 minutes later, you have lunch? Um, idk ’bout you but count me in! Whose with me? Use #FDLFoods to show me what you made in the kitchen!
